just curious, what settings do the photographers here prefer to shoot fireworks with?

Well I haven't actually done this. But most likely I would want to maintain sharpness - thus keep the apature low.
I can think of one case, where I'd want a fairly high shutter speed to get instant action, but another case in which I'd want a limited 'blur' effect. In either case, this is probably not long enough to get a decent amount of light in, so I would go into photoshop afterwards and use what data I have and enhance it.

Sure,
As natmaster just pointed out, you can definitely go into Photoshop and enhance it. It might take a little bit of work depending on how your photo looks but I'd say experiment with the different settings in Photoshop til you're satisfied with the results you get

Personally I tend to use high apertures 5.6-8, and keep the shutter of the camera open for 2-8 seconds. The high aperture keeps the depth of field very wide. A tripod is a must and I always use a remote for the shutter to keep it from shaking after I have pressed the button. In photoshop I usually just increase saturation and contrast a little if needed.
